Google Gives Previews to Instant Search

Further validating Bing’s intrusion into their search space, Google has announced that search results will begin displaying box image previews on websites listings on the rankings.

Writes Google, “Instant Previews provides a graphic overview of a search result and highlights the most relevant sections, making finding the right page as quick and easy as flipping through a magazine. To use it, click once on the magnifying glass next to the title of any search result and a visual overview of the page will appear on the right.”

Bing of course already does this, and now Google is rolling out a similar feature but with larger pictures. However, at a price. The once-clean Google search results continue to become cloudier and busier while, not coincidentally, the quality and accuracy of their listings decline.

Website owners worried about theft/copyright and fewer clicks can block the preview images from appearing.
