Google Enters Music Market

Google Inc., world’s largest Internet search company has officially launched its music service to users wherein music lovers can now listen to songs and/or buy them through Google’s Android market. Now this means competition for Apple iTunes and Amazon MP3 shop gets stiffened

The Google Music Beta which was launched in May 2011 and ever since users have uploaded over 20k songs from personal collections to the cloud service so that it can be streamed from any place. According to the Internet search engine major the Google Music is everything about music; discovering, buying, sharing music in novel customized ways.

Google has even partnered with over 1,000 famous record labels, including Merge Records, XL Recordings, Matador Records, Warp Records, and Naxo and has over 13 million tracks from different artists of Universal Music Group, Sony Corp and EMI. Not just these but Google has even forged partnership with partnered with digital distributors of music including INgrooves, IODA, The Orchard and Believe Digita. The Google Music enables users to buy individual songs, tracks, or full albums from their PCs or Android devices. The bought music will be downloaded to users’ personal Google Music lib and they can access the library from anywhere. Users can even share the streams with friends via Google’s social networking platform Google+. This is a great strategy by Google to not only give competition to other online music services but simultaneously popularize the Google+ as well.

Google blog says that there is something for everyone at Google Music and new users can start Google Music collections rolling with some freebies from some hi-profile tracks including unreleased concerts of The Rolling Stones that will be exclusively available for Google Music users, and something as old as 1973 live concert of Brussels Affair that is available to download right now. Not limiting the freebies tot eh guitar tracks the Google Music extended offerings to Shakira (you read it right) where her fans can download live EP of the Columbian singer from her recent show in Paris or even download her single “Je L’Aime à Mourir…..all for free. Since Google Music doesn’t have any partnership with the Warner it’s kind of let down for the Warner fans as they can never buy the tracks of Green Day, Gucci Mane, Mastodon or Wiz Kahlifa.

The Google+ free full play buddy share makes the Google Music all the more interesting. Users who buy from the Google Music store are allowed to share music stream with their buddies for free via Google+ and it’s a great add on offered by the Google. However, excitement aside, time will say if Google Music can outrun the competition all music lovers hope that web music market will play out to the benefit of customers.
