You may have seen some funny stuff on the Google search listings tonight. If you did, don’t adjust your monitor, don’t toss your glasses, many of us saw it also. What we saw was two new clickable icons next to the each search listing entry.
So what’s going on these new arrow and X boxes?
Well Google announced today the official release of SearchWiki, a new search listing feature which allows Google account users to customize the entries they see on the search engine.

Searchers logged into their Google account can annotate, remove, promote and even add to the listings they get on the search.
Basically, if you are logged in you can adjust the rankings as you see fit and even leave comments. While Google says any changes made will only affect the account holder’s results going forward, my guess is it’s just another way for the company to collect further data on its users while helping to refine their search listings.
And a reminder, as of now you only a few of those logged into their Google account get SearchWiki.
